Rihani on TV


Honoring the 58th memorial of Ameen Rihani in September, several television stations in Lebanon and in Europe broadcasted special reports or documentaries related to Rihani. These were:

LEBANON

On September 14, 1998, Future Television of Beirut aired a 30-minute documentury entitled "The Ameen Rihani Museum" which was narrated by Mr. Nabil Nsouli.

On September 25, 1998, National Broadcasting Network (NBN) television station of Beirut aired a 30-minute report entitled "In Memory of Ameen Rihani". Guest speakers were Dr. Akl Kairouz and Dr. Atef Faddoul.

ENGLAND

On September 22, 1998, Middle East Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) television of London aired a one-hour documentury entitled "The First Meeting of Ameen Rihani with King Abdul Aziz Al-Saud" which was presented by Mr. Saad Nasser.

ITALY

On September 23, 1998, Orbit Television of Rome aired a two-hour show entitled "Ameen Rihani Reconsidered: The five perspectives of Rihani namely, the philosopher, the historian, the politician, the literary critic, and the bridge builder between East and West". Guest speakers were Dr. Edward Amine Al-Boustani, Dr. Latif Zeitouni, Mr. Elie Salibi, and Mr. Assad Maroun.

Also on September 23, 1998, Orbit Television of Rome aired another two-hour report entitled "Muluk-ul Arab (Kings of Arabia): Today's significance of one of Rihani's major works". Guest speakers were Dr. Nicolas Ziadeh, Mr. Munah Al-Solh, Mr. Riyad Najib Al-Rayess, and Mr. Zuheir Ouseiran.



New Publication


On September 20, 1998, an agreement was signed between the Rihani Family and Dar Al-Balagha Al-Arabia Publishing House in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, represented by its Executive Director-General Mr. Adel A. Al-Mandil, to publish the Correspondence of Ameen Rihani and King Abdul Aziz Al-Saud. The first edition will be issued in Riyadh around February 1999. The second edition will be issued in Beirut, Lebanon, and the third in London, England by the end of the year 2000. The book will include handwritten copies of some of these very important and historic letters.

On August 23, 1998, Al-Anwar newspaper of Beirut published an article entitled "Rihani's Fate of Palestine: A National Voice From the Early Decades of this Century Till 75 Years Later".

On September 12, 1998, Al-Anwar newspaper of Beirut published an article by Labib Kikano entitled "Ameen Rihani Between Perseverance and Existence".
